# Ribbon changelog

> What changed in Ribbon, by date. Ribbon is in development; version 0.1.0 has not been publicly released yet.

## What changed most recently?

On October 22, 2026, Ribbon gained a strip per display, a full native Settings window and a translated interface. The entries below list every user-facing change, newest first.

## October 22, 2026

- **A strip per display.** Each display gets its own strip. Choose which displays Ribbon manages: all of them, the Mac's own screen, external ones, or chosen ones.
- **Carry windows between displays.** Drag a window by its title bar onto another display; the old strip closes up and the new one opens a gap under the pointer.
- **Step aside.** Four fingers up part the strip like a curtain to show the desktop and floating windows; four fingers down bring it back. The menu-bar icon does the same with a click.
- **Native Settings window** with toolbar tabs, grouped forms, illustrations and compatibility notes. Speeds, delays and new-window widths use named stops instead of numbers.
- **Ribbon in your language:** English, Vietnamese and 14 more languages.
- **Fix Trackpad Conflicts** finds each macOS trackpad gesture that collides with Ribbon's and shows how to change it.
- **Apps Left Alone:** one list of apps Ribbon never arranges, and *Leave App Alone* in the menu.
- New windows open next to the other windows of the same app.
- Choose the menu-bar icon: an outline, or the colorful app icon.
- A new app icon, a band of purple silk, for light and dark menus.
- One universal app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

## October 21, 2026

- **Free scrolling** alongside lined-up scrolling, with snap assist for edges that stop close to the screen edge.
- **Floating windows:** fixed-size windows such as settings panels and dialogs float above the strip.
- **The switcher** shrinks windows into one row, like the iPhone app switcher. Drag to reorder, drop on a window to stack, or click to go there; a Spaces bar runs along the top.
- **Full screen inside the strip**, and a double-click on a title bar makes a window full width, keeping your gaps.
- **Any width:** resize a window by hand and it keeps that width; windows snap to screen edges.
- **An infinite strip** option, where the last window wraps around to the first.
- **Layouts survive a restart** for the apps still open.
- The strip settles with a spring that starts at the speed your fingers let go.
- Clicking an app in the Dock moves the strip to its window; clicking again cycles through its windows.
- Windows closed in the background leave the strip; opening and closing slide.

## October 13, 2026

- Ribbon arranges real windows on a horizontal strip, and three-finger swipes move the strip.
- The first version of the switcher: three fingers up show every window in a row.
- **A clean way out:** Quit and Stop Managing put every window back on screen.
